China G.R.A.P.E.S project
Chinese civilization is the oldest civilization still in existence today, and extends back through history in an unbroken chain over nearly four thousand years. Throughout these thousands of years of history, the Chinese people have been instrumental in developing technologies and advancing the knowledge of mankind.
Geographychina had barriers called the isolated barriers.
The large land was isolated from much of the rest of the world by dry deserts to the north and west, the Pacific Ocean to the east, and impassable mountains to the south. This enabled the Chinese to develop independently from other world civilizations. They had the yellow and Yangtze river. |
ReligionChina had many different religions. Like Confucianism, Buddhism and Doaism,
Confucianism teaches behavior and to help people accept their roles in society and establish order. Buddhism taught his people about what The Four Noble Truths and an Eightfold Path. It also taught the people to use meditation. Doaism told his followers that the most important thing an individual could do is to reject the world and their desires for worldly possessions and power, and commune with nature, bringing oneself into a state of oneness with the Dao. |
AchievementsEarly emperors had build the great wall to protect their nation against attack from outside forces.

PoliticalThe Chinese have been ruled by a succession of dynasties. A dynasty is a family that passes the right to rule the nation from one generation to the next. It also went on and on.
For example, the Zhou Dynasty and the Quin Dynasty. |
EconomicsIn China they traded on what the Silk Road. The Silk Road merchant traders brought silk from China westward, and glass, linen and gold from the West back into China.

Social structureChina had a ruler called emperors who ruled over China.
They also had nobleman who were members of the royal family. At the very bottom we had peasants. They had to work for the emperor. They built the Great Wall. |
