Biome Essay Amazon Rainforest
A biome is a large region where plants and animals live in.It is different from an ecosystem because biomes are much bigger, but ecosystem are smaller. My biome is the Amazon Rainforest. In the Amazon Rainforest it's hot and humid throughout the year, with an average annual temperature of 27°C (80.7°F).
The word "biotic" means that something is living. For organism to be alive they need to use energy, reproduce, have DNA, have cells and have life cycle. Monkeys like the howler has DNA so they can howl. Birds like the toucans and parrots reproduce by laying eggs and having baby birds. Jaguars have cells that let them be hunters. Lizards have life cycle, grown, change, and die. Plants and fruit trees use energy to make their own food and make fruit like lemon, orange, banana and pineapples to feed the monkeys and birds.
The word " Abiotic" means that something not alive. In the Amazon rainforest there are non-living things like water, soil, rocks, sun and climate. Water does not have cells but animals drink water to survive. In the Amazon rainforest there is a lot of water because it rains a lot. Soil does not use energy instead plants use it to grow. Rocks do not have DNA so they do not change by themselves. Sun does not reproduce but it helps animals use energy. Climate does not have a life cycle and it doesn't die.
In the Amazon Rainforest there are producers, primary consumers, secondary consumers and decomposers. In the Amazon rainforest there are two producers they are fruit trees and tall trees. Different fruit trees like avocado, bananas, lemon, orange, peanut, peppers, and pineapples trees give fruit to the animals. Tall trees are home to the parrots and the howler monkeys. There are three primary consumers in the Amazon rainforest birds, monkeys, and butterflies. Insects like butterflies and beetles eat the producers. Monkeys like the spider, howler and orangutan stay away from predators in the tall trees.Parrots fly high and eat fruit from the fruit trees. In the Amazon rainforest we have three secondary consumers frogs, lizards and snakes. Frogs like the red eyed tree frog and the green iguana eats small bugs. Snakes like the boa constrictor eats birds and small animals. A jaguar is tertiary consumer in the Amazon rainforest he eats monkeys. The decomposers of the Amazon rainforest are termites and leaf beetles eat dead animals and plants. They keep the floor of the Amazon rainforest clean.
The Amazon is a tropical rainforest. It rains a lot and animals like jaguars, monkeys, and fruit trees. In the Amazon Rainforest it's hot and humid throughout the year, with an average annual temperature of 27°C (80.7°F). The Amazon rainforest has over two and a half million different species of insect, more than forty thousand varieties of plant, one and a half thousand bird species and over two thousand fish species. The Amazon rainforest is the largest in the world. We have to protect this biome because there are harmless animals that are endangered. The jaguar and the howler monkey are endangered because they are being hunted by humans. To protect this biome we need to stop killing the jaguars and monkeys.
